OM Solar — The Origin of Its Name

Although the letters are pronounced individually, the "OM" in OM Solar is a kind of acronym for two Japanese words, "omoshiroi" and "mottainai." The first word means "interesting," possessing intrinsic merit, and the second word, loosely translated, means "unwasteful."

Both words — interesting and unwasteful — are aptly representative of the OM Solar system, a unique method of maximizing the sun's comfort and benefits to enhance people's lives, whether at home or at work, at play or at rest.

OM Solar in Japan — A Web of Local Builders

Hamamatsu, home of the OM Solar Association, has a mild climate and is situated in a major orange-producing region.

The OM Solar Association, whose head office is located in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Japan's Pacific coast, works with and is supported by its membership which currently consists of more than 300 local homebuilding firms. These firms perform all the tasks pertaining to homebuilding — not only design and construction, but also interior and landscape design, maintenance and remodelling — and furthermore offer homeowners consultation and services related to the legal and financial aspects of building a home.

The comprehensively multifunctional activities of these companies that are franchised by the OM Solar Association make this organizational network one of a kind, not only in Japan but worldwide.

Construction industry infrastructure and operational methods vary from country to country, as do building technologies and materials.
